A Timeline in Ice
Scientists can learn a tremendous amount by taking core samples of ice, like pushing a straw into a layer cake and examining the layers in the tube. In Antarctica, scientists found an area of unbroken ice over 1,000,000 years old! The core sample will provide an amazing record of Earth’s climate, air quality, and even diseases.
