Which Cretaceous Birds Survived?

Paleontologists believe an asteroid strike in Chicxulub Mexico 66 million years ago may have wiped out 3/4 of all species on Earth, including most non-avian dinosaurs. Vertebrate paleontologist Daniel Field believes most birds also did not survive because of forest fires. The exception was ground-dwelling birds. They moved into trees once the forests recovered, and evolved into today’s birds!
