Easy and Versatile Artificial Nacre

Mother-of-pearl, also known as nacre, is a beautiful substance, created by some mollusks on their inner shells. But biologist Anne Meyer, has discovered a way to make artificial nacre out of bacteria! The organic substance is stiff, yet bendable, and could be used for bone implants, food packaging, or building on the moon!
