2 endangered giant Galapagos tortoise eggs hatched at a Swiss zoo. One was black, the same color as its parents. The other was completely white, with red eyes. Albino turtles are extremely rare, with about 1 case in every 100,000 hatchlings. This is the first albino Galapagos tortoise ever born in captivity.

The world’s largest plant, is also one of the oldest. A seagrass meadow in Australia, covers 77 square miles of the ocean floor, and it all sprouted from one seed. That’s as big as 20,000 football fields! The massive plant is 4,500 years old, and is located in Shark Bay.

Today is June Bug Day. June bugs are beetles in the Phyllophaga genus. There are lots of different varieties, so see how many types of beetles you can find. They’re emerging from the ground after up to 3 years, ready to eat a meal and find a mate. Happy hunting!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Hooray, it’s Chocolate Ice Cream Day! While you enjoy your frozen dairy treat, watch a movie on videotape. It’s VCR Day, and you must know someone, who still has their video cassette recorder. Remember to please be kind and rewind!

Don’t worry if you see a baby deer on its own. The mother deer is probably nearby, and’ll return in a few hours. But a fawn in Pennsylvania needed a helping hand, after falling into a window well. A police officer rescued it, and put the baby deer back where mom could find it.

How far would you go for a hunk of cheese? In Brockworth England, an annual race sends people down Cooper’s Hill after an 8 pound wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. The hill is so steep, it’s almost a cliff, and nearly impossible to stay on your feet. Cheese-rollers have bounced and rolled in Gloucestershire for over 100 years!

Today is Eyewear Day. If you wear glasses, you’re one step ahead of everyone else, who will have to find some sunglasses to celebrate. Maybe today’s the day to try a monocle! It’s also Green Roof Day. Buildings have a lot of unused space on top, to make a perfect garden, or harvest solar energy.

Today is Drive-In Movie Day. Drive-in theaters are great for staying socially distant, while going to the movies! If you can’t find a drive-in, sit in the car, and project a movie on your garage door. It’s also Yo-Yo Day. Playing with a yo-yo is also a good way to keep people 6 feet away!

Digging holes and pulling weeds can give you a good workout. Plant some vegetables, for Gardening Exercise Day. If you want more rocks and less dirt, explore a cool cave or limestone landscape, because it’s also Caves and Karst Day. A hot day is a perfect time to try spelunking in a cool cave!

Craigslist is a great place to find free things, that people are trying to get rid of. Vicky Umodu picked up a chair, with a lumpy cushion. When she unzipped the cushion, she was shocked to find envelopes filled with $36,000! She immediately returned the money. The grateful previous owner, let her keep $2,200.
