Carolina reapers are the hottest edible peppers in the world, measuring 2.2 million units on the Scoville scale of hotness. For comparison, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are only around 50,000 Scoville units. Gregory Foster must have a stomach of steel, because he set a world record, by eating 10 Carolina reaper chilies, in 33 seconds.

Playful Bumblebees

Being a scientist sounds like fun. In one study, Samadi Galpayage, a behavioral biologist, created a playground for bumblebees. The buff-tailed bumblebees were given a choice of going directly to food, or traveling through an obstacle course first. They all chose the path that let them roll balls around. Apparently, bumblebees like to play!

Today is Cappuccino Day, a delicious version of coffee made with espresso and foamy steamed milk. Speaking of steam, it’s also National STEAM Day, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The day was created to inspire kids to explore those subjects, for possible careers in the future.

Dalton Meyer has mastered the art of applause. The 20-year-old set the world record, for fastest handclaps. Using a special wrist-clapping technique, he clapped 1,140 times in 1 minute! He got interested in speed clapping when he was in elementary school, and worked his way up to 19 claps-per-second.

Do You Have These Pants in Deer Size?

A JC Penney store in a Pennsylvania shopping mall, temporarily closed for an unexpected visitor. A deer had come through the mall’s food court entrance, then ran into Penney’s. It wandered through the store to the dressing rooms, but didn’t try anything on. The deer was finally escorted safely back outdoors.
