Today is Greasy Food Day, World Pasta Day, and Sourest Day. It’s also Punk For A Day Day. So here’s what you do; make a big bowl  of spaghetti, topped with french fries and lemons. Then eat it while listening to punk rock music, with spiked hair and a sour snarl on your face!

Long Lost Friends Reunite

in 19 47, 2 girls met on a ship to America. Yolanda and Lena were emigrating from Italy with their families, and became friends for the 14-day voyage. Lena never forgot Yolanda, so her son tracked her down. Yolanda was living less than 3 hours away, and the women reunited after 75 years apart.

Untangling a Whale

Each year, enough fishing line is lost at sea, to wrap around the Earth 18 times. Last week, a humpback whale in British Columbia, was spotted dragging a yellow buoy, attached to 300 feet of steel rope. A marine rescue team was able to remove the fishing gear, and the uninjured whale swam away.

Crazy About Licorice

Today is a good day to go a little wild, because it’s Crazy Day! Wear some wacky clothes, and mix up your food. French fries in ice cream is always delicious! Since it’s also Good & Plenty Day, you could sprinkle some of the delicious pink and white candies, which contain licorice, on your spaghetti!

Today is Diwali, the height of a 5-day celebration. It’s the Hindu Festival of Lights, marked by oil lamps and candles, fireworks, feasts, and gifts. Do you have any friends that are Hindu? Ask them to tell you about their family traditions. Make foods like samosas or sweet gulab jamun, for a taste of the festivities.

Food for All Nations

Today is National Food Day, with the goal of getting people to eat natural, healthier foods. Go for the day without processed snack foods, and make a meal with fresh ingredients. It’s United Nations Day also. The UN works for all people on Earth, offering help during natural disasters, medical emergencies, and war.

Coyote Gets Stuck in a Car

Mechanics at a Florida car repair shop, got a shock when they started servicing a car. They found a coyote, wedged behind the front grill. They removed the front of the car to release the animal, and the Saint Francis Wildlife Association performed surgery and nursed the coyote back to health.

Big Bison Baby Born

A small herd of wild bison, was released in England over the summer, as part of the Wilder Blean project. One bison recently had a calf, making it the first wild bison born in the UK, in nearly 6,000 years. No one knew the mother was pregnant, so the baby was a big surprise.
