New Year’s Day Will Bring Supermoon

December 30, 2017 Lisa Mungovan

The first full moon of a new year is called a wolf moon. 2018’s wolf moon will be on New Year’s Day! It will also be a supermoon, which is a full moon that occurs when its orbit is closest to Earth. The technical name is perigee syzygy. Happy almost wolf perigee syzygy!
