The Physics of Curling

Sliding a big rock down the ice may look simple, but there’s much more to the sport of curling. Sweepers heat up the pebbled ice, causing it to melt and reduce friction, but the rotation, speed and pressure are equally important. The Olympics may be over, but the physics of curling has me hooked!
