It might seem like bad luck, to have a meteorite crash through your roof. But a man in Indonesia, didn’t mind the damage. Josua Hutagalung sold the 4 1/2-pound space rock, for over $1,000,000! The meteorite was carbonaceous chondrite, a rare variety. The next time you wish upon a falling star, you might get lucky!

It’s hard to get together with friends during the pandemic, because it’s just not safe. Luckily, many kids can still play with their friends, through video games. One recent study, showed video gaming can increase social connections, and decrease anxiety, during lockdowns. Your parents can feel better, about letting you have extra screen time.

Today is Use Less Stuff Day. Think about all the things you buy in a month. Do you really need all that stuff? One thing nobody needs, is cigarettes. Today is the Great American Smokeout, so challenge any relatives who smoke, to give it up for one day. Their lungs will be so happy!

You know what’s awesome? Toilets! It’s World Toilet Day! 2.5 billion people in the world don’t have toilets, so be thankful for yours, and keep it clean! It’s also Play Monopoly Day. The original version was created in 1935, but new versions are released every year. You might even find one for your town!

A 25-foot-tall dinosaur visited a mall in Istanbul Turkey, but it wasn’t very scary. The dinosaur was made of balloons! A team of artists broke the world record for largest balloon sculpture of a dinosaur, using 150,000 balloons. The massive sculpture is over 64 feet long. It’s part of the Balloon Animal Kingdom Exhibit.

The town of Takikawa in Japan, has solved its bear problem. After dozens of black bear attacks this year, they installed Monster Wolf robots to scare them away. The hairy cyborg wolves, growl and flash their red eyes, when they detect movement. They’re keeping bears safe, by keeping them away from humans.

The National Zoo in Washington DC, needs your help. The panda cub that was born there in August, needs a name! They’ve narrowed the list down to 4 choices. You can vote for Fu Zai, Xiao Qi Ji, Xing Fu, or Zai Zai. Visit the nationalzoo.si.edu website to vote, then watch him on the pandacam.

Hot soup always sounds good on a cold day. So why is Vichyssoise Day in November! Vichyssoise is a creamy soup made with potatoes and onions, that’s served cold. If you still want something hot, don’t worry. Today is Apple Cider Day too. Heat cider up, and top with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Delicious.
