Honeybee populations have been declining in recent years, so I’m pleased to report good news about them. 420,000 new bee colonies have formed, over the last 6 months in the United States. Maybe it’s because people planted more gardens during the pandemic, or took up beekeeping as a hobby. Whatever the reason, we’re buzzing with happiness!

A Kroger grocery store in Tennessee, discovered a homeless woman was sleeping in their parking lot every night. Instead of banning her from the property, they gave her a job. She was soon promoted, and able to afford an apartment. Her customers helped with furniture, and became her new family. Kindness changes people’s lives.

Get your jaws ready, to celebrate Chewing Gum Day! People have been chewing gum for more than 5000 years. They started by chewing blobs of wax, tree sap, or bark tar. It didn’t taste good, and they couldn’t blow bubbles with it, but it satisfied the need to gnaw on something!

Today is Love People Day. Sometimes we need to remember that we’re all part of the human race, and we should love each other. Yes, even when your brother is being annoying! It’s also Ask A Stupid Question Day. Don’t be embarrassed, just ask! Have fun seeing if I can answer some stupid questions.

It’s only September, but Ian Taylor Schlitz just graduated. What’s more is, he’s only 14. Wait, there’s more! It was not from high school, but from college! Ian obtained his associate’s degree from Tarrant County College. His sister, Hayley, also went to school there. At 16, she has her bachelor’s degree, and is attending law school.

Sasha Tinning and her grandson, Carver, were gathering supplies to send to firefighters in California. They’re battling another outbreak of wildfires, and 5-year-old Carver thought they could use a little cheering up. He sent his Baby Yoda plush toy, to keep them from getting lonely. Maybe Baby Yoda can summon The Force to help.

On election day, it’s important for everyone to vote, no matter how far from home they are. Kate Rubins plans to vote from space! Since she’ll be on the International Space Station, with no voting booths or mailboxes, Kate will access her ballot with a code by e-mail, then downlink it back to Earth.

Last week, a camera from the Global Meteor Network, captured a rare sight. The video shows a shooting star streaking through Earth’s atmosphere, than bouncing back into space. The meteoroid was likely fairly small, and was a rock from a Jupiter family orbit. It skipped off the atmosphere, like a stone on a lake!

It’s Coffee Day! Even if they don’t like the taste of it, most people love the smell of fresh coffee. Enjoy it with a sweet, double-baked biscuit, as it’s also Biscotti Day. The long shape makes it the perfect cookie, to dunk in coffee.

Zorawar Singh is a jump-rope athlete in India. The 21-year-old holds multiple world records for different methods of skipping rope, but he just set a record with a new twist. He completed 147 skips in 30 seconds, while wearing roller skates! He practiced 4 hours a day to perfect his new skill.
