Today is B Kinder Day, started in honor of 12-year-old Billie Kinder. It brings a message of hope, empathy, and change in the world. Think before you speak, and be more kind to everyone. It’s also Onion Rings Day, and Chocolate Eclair Day.  Loop giant onion rings onto your eclairs, for a delicious feast!

Puccini Performed for Plants

People often talk to their plants, or play music for them. In Barcelona Spain, the Liceu opera house is opening its doors to 2292 potted plants, for its first performance since the COVID-19 pandemic started. The Concert for Biocene, performed by a string quartet, can be enjoyed by humans online on Monday, at Liceu Barcelona.cat.

Look On the Bright Side

Today is Go Skateboarding Day. Check out a skate park, and don’t forget your helmet! It’s also the Day of the Gong, so go bang a gong, or watch The Gong Show. Finish with some stretches, for International Yoga Day. It’s Optimism Day, so I believe we can fit everything in.

Celebrate Those Who Were Here First

Indigenous Peoples Day was started in Canada, to celebrate the history of the First Nation, Metis, and Inuit peoples. It’s now celebrated around the world. Learn about native cultures on your continent, including history that might make your ancestors look bad. Indigenous people have been mistreated everywhere, and it’s important to learn their past.

Motorcycles, Turkeys and Giraffes

Today is World Motorcycle Day. Maybe you’ll see a motorcycle rumbling along with a turkey in a sidecar, because it’s also Turkey Lover’s Day. Wild turkeys love to eat nuts and berries. Even though it’s World Giraffe Day too, I don’t think you’ll see a giraffe on a motorcycle. They can grow 20 feet tall!

Spend the Day With Dad

Happy Father’s Day! Don’t forget to say thanks to your dad, as well as the other men in your life who help raise you. Spend the day outside, for Daylight Appreciation Day, and take some photos together, for Selfie Day. Then celebrate Peaches ‘N’ Cream Day, with fresh peaches and whipped cream. Delicious.

Massive Cherry Tops the World Record

Sebastiano Zanoni owns a farm in Italy. He and his sister Selene, were working in the cherry orchard, when they spotted a cherry so big, that it looked more like a plum. It unofficially broke the world record, weighing in at .88 ounces. It would cost $782 for a Guinness adjudicator to make it official.

The Force Was With Him

Rufus Wright, also known as Lieutenant Casido in Star Wars: Rogue One, recently lost his wedding ring while swimming at a British beach. Adam Ferguson, member of the Clacton Metal Detector Club, came to the rescue. He found the ring, knee-deep in sand. He received a cash reward, which he donated to healthcare workers.

Funding Future Philanthropists

Did you ever want to donate to someone in need, but you don’t have money because you’re just a kid? The VING Project, is a charity with an interesting idea. They give $1000 to teenagers, so that they can distribute the money to neighbors, role models, or other deserving individuals. It feels great to give!

It’s Officially Summer

In the Northern Hemisphere, today is the longest day of the year, known as the summer solstice. At the North Pole, the sun will be shining for 24 hours! In Earth’s Southern Hemisphere, however, today is the winter solstice, with the fewest daylight hours. The South Pole won’t see the sun at all!
