You might think it’s Friday, but it’s also Sun Day. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter designated May 3rd as a day to promote solar power. The Sun generates massive amounts of energy, but we need more innovative ways to harness it. Solar panels can power houses, cars, or even entire cities.

Tuba players rejoice. It’s International Tuba Day! The big bass horn gives the necessary oompah for marching bands. Practice outside, so everyone can enjoy it. It’s Space Day as well. How many planets can you name? Study the Moon tonight, and see if you can spot any constellations in the stars.

Today’s going to be fun! It’s Two Different Colored Shoes Day! Walk proudly in your mismatched shoes. No need to be normal. Besides, it’s Paranormal Day! Celebrate the strange things that can’t be explained by science, by watching Ghostbusters or Harry Potter. Then relax in the garden, because it’s Garden Meditation Day. Chill out!

A dinosaur footprint found in China, is the largest fossilized raptor footprint ever recorded. Fujianipus yingliangi, meaning foot of Fujian, left footprints with only 2 toe imprints, because the middle toe with its long sharp talon, was raised to prevent damaging it. The raptor was about 6 feet tall, and 16 feet long.

Did you know, it’s World Tuna Day? There are many different types of tuna living in the ocean. The Atlantic bluefin tuna, can grow 15 feet long, but the biggest tuna fish ever found, was 21 feet long, and weighed 1,600 pounds! They can swim 60 miles per hour and dive 3000 feet deep.

Today is Brothers and Sisters Day, so thank them for being born! You might not always get along, but you can always love each other. Maybe your mom’s still pregnant with your little brother or sister, but that’s okay. It’s also Baby Day! Prepare by practicing your baby talk, and how to play peek-a-boo.

It’s so frustrating when you forget your password, and your mom probably can’t help you find it! Today is World Password Day. It’s important to update passwords with something difficult to hack, but make sure you can remember it yourself! Try using random words, and don’t use 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 or the word PASSWORD, for your password!

Today is Truffle Day. The chocolate truffle is a ball of rich, creamy chocolate ganache, covered or filled with a variety of other ingredients. Delicious! Oh, you don’t like candy? Then you can eat the other kind of decadent truffle. It’s an extremely expensive fungi that grows underground, found by truffle hogs or dogs.

A miniature horse named Sweetie, has a not-so-miniature tail. In fact, she set the world record, for longest tail on a miniature horse. Although Sweetie is only 3 feet tall, her tail is nearly 6 feet long! Her owner keeps the tail wrapped up, so it won’t drag on the ground.

Have you ever seen a Venus fly trap, a sundew, or a pitcher plant? Today is World Carnivorous Plant Day, and those are some of the plants, that eat meat. Carnivorous plants use different methods to trap insects, like slippery sides, sticky hairs, or jaws that clamp shut. Bugs don’t bug them!
