Fruit Ninja Breaks Another Record

David Rush and Jonathan Hannon set their newest world record, slicing apples. David sliced apples in the air, while juggling 3 knives. Jonathan threw the fruit at David, who successfully sliced 21 apples in 30 seconds. Luckily, he also succeeded in slicing zero fingers off. They also set the 1-minute record of 40 sliced apples, last October.

Rescued From Flood By Floods

Last year, a family in Michigan lost their cat Olive, when their home was flooded. They were shocked to receive a call from the Humane Society months later, saying they had their cat! A couple with the last name of Flood, had found Olive! Luckily, she was microchipped, so they could find her family.

New Life for Old Chopsticks

Do you ever eat a meal with chopsticks? Unless you use them often, you probably use disposable chopsticks. Canadian student Felix Bock, formed ChopValue, a company that makes items like furniture, shelves, and cutting boards, out of used chopsticks. He asked Vancouver restaurants to add chopstick-recycling bins. 4 years later, ChopValue has already recycled 64,000,000 sticks!

Millipedes Making Messes

Every 8 years in Japan, millipedes create delays on the railways. They swarm onto the tracks, causing trains to come to a screeching halt. Scientists have discovered, that they’re actually periodical millipedes, which have an 8-year life cycle. They stay underground through 7 stages of development. Different broods hatch in different years, in different locations.

Cloudy With a Chance of Samosas

Niraj Gadher, who owns the Chai Walla eatery in Bath England, wanted to spread a little laughter, by sending a samosa to space. He attached the potato-filled pastry to a weather balloon, along with a GoPro camera and GPS tracker. The samosa eventually crash-landed in a tree in France, where an animal ate it.

The Water’s A Bit Cold

Russian swimmer Yekaterina Nekrasova took a deep breath, and dove into icy Lake Baikal in Siberia, to break a world record. She swam a distance of 280 feet under the ice, before surfacing for air! The rules stated Yekaterina could wear only a swimsuit. It took her about 1 1/2 minutes to accomplish the amazing feat.

Old Enough to Shave

The Vienna Zoo in Austria, welcomed a trio of emperor tamarin monkey babies last month. The triplets are now 6 weeks old, and only the size of a grape, but they’re already starting to grow moustaches! Emperor tamarins have a long white moustache, so the tiny tots will soon look like little old men.
