A woman in Alaska made a lucky guess, that won her over $300,000! Nenana Alaska holds a contest each year, where people guess what time a tripod will fall through the melting ice, into the Tanana River. Patricia Andrew was the only one who chose April 14th, 12:21 am, so she won all the money!

Spectators watching a youth soccer game in Ohio, were surprised to see a coyote run down the field. The curious coyote must have wanted to join in the fun, although no one passed him the ball. He came running by again, 10 minutes later. Maybe he was checking the score!

A library in Ontario had a book returned, that was 49 years overdue! The attached apology note explained, “I am an outrageously slow reader… but here’s the book back.” The book, called “Great Moments in Chess”, showed up in the book drop. Perhaps the reader was afraid to find out how much the fine would be!

Today is Cinco de Mayo, which is Spanish for the Fifth of May. The day commemorates a victory in 1861: when 2000 Mexican soldiers fought off 6000 French soldiers in the Battle of Puebla, during the Franco-Mexican War. Mexican-Americans started the holiday as a celebration of their Mexican heritage including music, food, and dancing.

Hannah Strickland, a visitor renting a cabin in Gatlinburg Tennessee, found out she’ll need to share the hot tub with local residents. She photographed 3 black bears wandering the property. One of them was enjoying a relaxing soak, in the hot tub on the back porch! They eventually wandered off, and gave Hannah her turn.
