The struggle of eating a popsicle before it melts may be a thing of the past. Bompas & Parr have created the “world’s first non-melting ice lolly.” It’s based on a recipe for pykrete, an ultra-strong ice developed during World War 2, made with sawdust and water. Instead of using wood pulp, they use fruit fibers.

Welcome, Baby Tonks!

The Denver Zoo in Colorado introduced its new baby aye-aye, named Tonks. She was born in August, to mom Bellatrix, and dad Smeagol. The aye-aye is an endangered member of the lemur family, native to Madagascar. They chew holes in trees, then use their long middle fingers to dig out juicy grubs to eat.

Thousands of Teddy Bears

In California, the Seaside Police Department set a world record for a good cause. They collected 7686 teddy bears, which was the most new stuffed animals collected by a non-profit in a day. Teddy Bears with Heart gives stuffed animals to agencies like hospitals and fire departments, to give to children in crisis.
