The Belfast Zoo introduced its newest member to the public. The baby is a François langur, a primate native to China, Vietnam and Laos. He was born to mom Nicoleen and dad AJ and is named Huadian, which is Chinese for rascal. Apparently he has a cheeky personality!

African Matabele ants are fierce warriors, attacking their termite prey on a daily basis and getting hurt in the process. But those who are injured are treated by fellow ants! The wounded calmly wait while a medic licks them until they recover enough to move on, or be carried back to the nest.

But tucked inside the cover, in an envelope marked “Washington’s hair,” was a lock of George Washington’s hair! Incidentally, he did not wear a wig. That hairdo was all his!

The world’s biggest delivery pizza showed up at the Southgate Michigan Fire Department. If Steve Mallie had made the 72 inch pizza any larger, it wouldn’t fit through most doors. A cheese pizza sells for $300, but profits went to the Brownstown Animal Shelter. Tomorrow’s mammoth delivery pizzas will be donated to Anderson Elementary School!

Today is Hippo Day. Hippopotamuses are quite dangerous animals, killing around 3000 people each year! These water loving pachyderms can’t swim. They mark territory by flinging poop with their tails. They produce pink milk, which reminds me: it’s also National Gumdrop Day! Percy Truesdell was the Gumdrop King, perfecting the candy in 1915.

An Arizona woman went to bed with a headache and woke up with a British accent! She was diagnosed with Foreign Accent Syndrome, a rare illness that can happen after a brain injury. Michelle Myers has had Australian and Irish accents for 2 weeks before, but the British episode has lasted two years.

One of the coolest souvenirs for sale in Minneapolis during the Super Bowl was snow. The ad agency space150 sold snowballs in a vending machine! For one dollar, you’d get a see-through can with a handmade Minnesota snowball in it, and the money was donated to the Wilderness Inquiry organization.

Some days I don’t know whether I want a pancake or a waffle for breakfast. You’ll never have to choose again, because a genius created a panwaffle maker! It makes a mini waffle surrounded by a ring of pancake. It might be as good as my Darth Vader waffle iron.

If you see someone with a dirt smudge on their forehead today, it’s probably not because they’re messy. Today is Ash Wednesday, the start of the Christian period of fasting before Easter called Lent. Some people wear ashes as a sign of repentance. You still have to wash your face!
