In Germany, the first hydrogen-powered train is now in operation, to transport passengers. It can travel 600 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, it has a battery back-up, and it doesn’t produce any greenhouse gas emissions! It’s also quieter and cheaper than traditional trains. 14 more trains will be launched in the next few years.

Teachers, don’t listen to this. Kids, there’s a new typeface that can make your essays look 10% longer. It’s called Times Newer Roman, and it changes the spacing, size of the punctuation, and x-height just a tiny bit. The result is, a 15-page paper would need only 5,833 words instead of 6,680 words! Pretty sneaky!

Ice Age Mammals Found

Two incredibly well-preserved animals, a wolf pup and a caribou, were discovered in Canada. The Ice Age mammals were uncovered by gold miners in the Yukon Territory. The mummified wolf was especially impressive, as it was completely intact- even its fur! They were found in a layer of volcanic ash, 80,000 years old.

A school district in Missouri is trying out a 4-day school week this year, joining many school systems in the United States, who are already using the schedule. Some students are on the bus 3 hours a day, so a 4-day week makes a big difference! The school day is just a little longer.

Noah’s Bus

Noah’s not the only one that rescued animals from a flood. Tony Alsup may not have an ark, but he used a school bus to rescue animals from Hurricane Florence. The Tennessee man started rescuing shelter animals last year, during Hurricane Harvey. He finds foster homes for them until flooded shelters can reopen.
