Today is Great Lakes Awareness Day. Together, Lakes Michigan, Erie, Superior, Huron, and Ontario make up the largest body of freshwater on Earth. That makes them pretty great! The 5 lakes are located on the border of the United States and Mexico, and are connected by a series of rivers and smaller lakes.

Are all your favorite socks dirty? Who cares! It’s No Socks Day! Make sure you have clean feet. Take a walk and try to find some iris flowers blooming, for Iris Day. It’s also Coconut Cream Pie Day, and Have A Coke Day. Sounds like a super sweet snack!

Michael Copeland wanted to raise money, for a mental health charity called Mind. He decided to complete a challenge, of climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales. To make the feat more impressive, he climbed the 3 peaks with a refrigerator on his back. At least he always had a cold drink.

A building in Singapore, contains an urban forest. The 17th through 20th floors of the CapitaSpring tower are a Green Oasis, where a spiral path trails through gardens and tiny tropical forests. The rooftop gardens supply herbs, fruits, and vegetables to 3 restaurants. All in all, the 51-story skyscraper, holds more than 80,000 plants.

Today is Mayday For Mutts. Some mixed-breed dogs have fun names, like sheepadoodle, schnoodle, or chiweenie. Some people say, laughter is the best medicine. It’s definitely a stress reliever, and it makes you feel better. Since today is World Laughter Day, tell a few jokes. Would you like to hear 2 short jokes and a long joke?

Lemonade Day, calls for an extraordinary glass of lemonade. If you really want to impress people, make it change color! An ingredient called butterfly pea flower, can make your lemonade turn purple, pink, or indigo. First make a tea with the flowers, then pour it into your lemonade, for a colorful show!

A Mars rover, has found water on the Red Planet. The Chinese Zhurong Martian rover discovered salty liquid water droplets. It could mean there was snow or frost on Mars as recently as 400,000 years ago. Humans could have been walking on Earth, at the same time water was flowing on Mars.

Last year, a couple of rare piglets named Kevin Bacon and Amy Swinehouse, were born at the Newquay Zoo in England. Now, they have siblings! Mama pig May, and papa Randy, have 2 new Visayan warty piglets! There are only about 200 left in the wild in the Philippines, so every piglet is celebrated.

Have you ever been a tourist? When you’re a visitor in another city, it’s nice when people are friendly and helpful. It’s Tourist Appreciation Day, so give visitors to your town a welcome smile!
