Today is Candy Corn Day. The yellow-white-and-orange candies were invented in the 18-hundreds. If you stack them up, they look like an ear of corn. Try the Turkey Dinner pack, with green bean, stuffing, and coffee flavors! Later, celebrate Haunted Refrigerator Night. Time to clean out the moldy leftovers hiding way in the back.
Travis Gienger grew his own pumpkin for Halloween, and it’s massive. In fact, it’s the largest pumpkin ever grown in the United States, weighing 2,560 pounds. On Friday, the pumpkin, named Maverick, was carved into the world’s biggest jack o’ lantern. It has an eagle face and talons, big enough to swallow you.
Wool comes from sheep and some other mammals, like alpacas. Wool clothes have the amazing ability, to keep you warm, even when they’re wet. The surface can repel water, so sheep don’t worry about the rain. Since today is Hug A Sheep Day, find a farm that has kid-friendly sheep, and start hugging!

Symptoms of stroke include sudden trouble walking, speaking, and understanding, as well as paralysis or numbness of the face, arm, or leg. It’s important to learn the signs, to get help fast. You could save someone’s life!
Everyone wants to be alone once in a while, but hermits prefer to isolate themselves from society all the time. Today is Hermit Day, giving you an excuse to stay in your room all day, avoiding people. Bring a pot of oatmeal too, because it’s Oatmeal Day. You’ll welcome new food and company tomorrow!
Today is Internet Day. It’s hard to imagine living without the internet. I wouldn’t be able to give you the Kids News! And how would you watch cat videos today, to celebrate Cat Day? Give your cat all his favorite treats, and learn a few cat phrases, like “meow-meow,” and “hiss!”
136 years ago, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated in New York. The statue stands in the harbor, and has welcomed millions of people from other countries, entering the USA on ships. National Immigrants Day celebrates all those who came to the United States from other countries, to find opportunity and happiness.
Today is World Lemur Day. You might recognize several types of these small primates, in the movie “Madagascar,” but there are actually around 100 different species of lemur. They are all native to the island of Madagascar. Did you know lemurs have 2 tongues? The second smaller tongue, is used during grooming.
Chocolate lovers, today is your lucky day. It’s Chocolate Day! People have been eating chocolate, made from the seeds of cacao trees, for 4000 years or more.
