Kids at a school in Iowa have a better way to get credit for gym class. Instead of taking Physical Education in school, students at the Alternative Learning Center can help disabled and senior citizens, do their yard work! By raking leaves, mowing lawns, and cleaning gutters, kids exchange good deeds for good grades.

Kitchen Klutzes of America, unite! It’s your day! It’s okay if you drop the bowl of cake batter, or forget to put the lid on the blender. We’ll forgive your clumsiness in the kitchen, and keep a fire extinguisher ready. It’s also Sewing Machine Day, if you need to sew an apron for protection!

Who Gets to be Napoleon?

Next weekend in the UK, you can witness the Battle of Waterloo. A giant map will be laid out at the University of Glasgow, for The Great Game: The Battle of Waterloo Replayed. 22,000 miniature soldiers will occupy the nearly 630 square-foot battle map. 120 players will recreate the 1815 battleĀ in Belgium, where Napoleon was finally defeated.

Pittsburgh Gators Galore

In a completely unrelated incident to the 5-foot long alligator captured in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania recently, another alligator was found on someone’s front porch. This one had escaped when a tree fell on its enclosure, and was safely rescued. In late May, an alligator had been discovered in a Pittsburgh park. Pennsylvania’s the new Florida!
