On April 22nd 1970, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day. He wanted people to focus on the environment, air and water pollution. It grew into a global movement, bringing the world together to try and keep the Earth clean, prevent global warming, and preserve nature for future generations. Set a goal today to help the Earth this year!

Wind and Water Supply Clean Energy

In March, Portugal generated enough renewable energy through wind and hydro power to supply the entire country with power for a month! By converting wind and water to electricity, Portugal saved the Earth’s atmosphere from 1.8 million tons of carbon dioxide. I hope more countries will follow their lead. Thank you, Portugal, for giving the planet cleaner air!

Celebrate Polar Bears

It’s International Polar Bear Day! Polar bears have black skin and hollow transparent hairs that scatter light, making their fur look white! They can grow 9 feet tall and have paws one foot wide. They live in Arctic sea ice regions, so climate change and melting ice has caused polar bears to become endangered.
