Yesterday, thousands and thousands of kids across both the United States and the world, participated in marches to end gun violence. Some kids also attended rallies supporting guns. Children like 11 year-old Naomi Wadler and high school senior Emma Gonzales gave powerful speeches asking the government to change gun laws. Kids can make a difference!
400 pre-school students in Turkey set a beautiful world record. They created a marbled fabric painting 164 feet long. Marbling is done by floating an image on the surface a liquid and transferring it to fabric or paper. Try mixing food coloring in oil and swirl it into water, then marble your own paper!
Uh-oh, parents have a new argument for not getting you that new toy. Researchers found that having too many toys can stifle creativity. When kids in their study were given only a few toys, they played with them longer, created new uses for the toys and had more fun overall!
Studies have shown that when kids spend more time outside, it may lessen the chances of needing glasses! Myopia is nearsightedness, when you can see things up close but need glasses to see things far away. Sunlight, dopamine, vitamin D, and exercise might prevent myopia, even if your parents wear glasses! Now go out and play!
