Piece of North America Stuck to Australia

Australia’s got a little something stuck to its face. It’s a 1.7 billion year-old piece of North America! Geologists found that the sandstone in the Georgetown region of Australia matched rocks in Canada. They believe all the continents merged 1.6 billion years ago to form a supercontinent, Nuna. When they separated, that piece remained.
