The Smithsonian Zoo in Washington D C, has named its new baby elephant. She’s an Asian elephant, and her name is Linh Mai, which means spirit blossom in Vietnamese. Asian elephants are endangered in the wild. The elephant calf was walking on her own within 5 hours of being born!

Watch a parade of planets tonight, by viewing 7 planets at once. They’ll be visible above the horizon, soon after sunset. You’re standing on the first planet, of course. In the sky, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible with the naked eye, while Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars.

Would you like to try a fancy French dessert? It’s Chocolate Souffle Day, so find a recipe, and make the airy pastry from scratch. A cake that special, needs to be eaten around a beautiful flower arrangement. It’s also Floral Design Day, so create a beautiful bouquet out of the first spring blooms.

If you see someone snoozing in public today, they might be celebrating Public Sleeping Day. Don’t wake them up! It’s also Tooth Fairy Day. The Tooth Fairy won’t come out in public, so if you lose a tooth today, don’t try to take a nap to get an early visit!

Have you ever dropped your phone in water? People used to recommend putting wet electronics in a bag of rice, to dry them out. Apple now says, rice can damage your device. Simply wipe your phone dry, then air dry naturally until all moisture has evaporated, before plugging it in, or charge wirelessly.

It’s International Polar Bear Day! Polar bears have black skin, and transparent hollow hairs that scatter light, making their fur look white! They can grow 9 feet tall, and have paws one foot wide. Polar bears live in Arctic sea ice regions, so climate change and melting ice, has caused them to become endangered.

An extremely rare Pokemon card, could be worth $100,000. It’s the Pokemon Super Secret Battle Number 1 Trainer card, given to winners in Japanese tournaments, in 19 99. Celebrate Pokemon Day, by organizing your Pokemon cards, to see if you have it. You can also play Pokemon Go, and get the Pikachu Talk app on Alexa.

Today is Retro Day, so pick your favorite decade before cell phones, and have fun! Wear groovy bell-bottoms from the 70’s, or a dapper suit from the 50’s. Play video games from the 80’s, or watch movies from the 60’s. But every decade had yummy strawberries, which is good, because it’s also Strawberry Day!

Plastic bags, bottles, and straws are just a few of the plastics polluting the Earth. Take a step to help clean it up, by not using those things in the first place! Today is Skip The Straw Day. If you can’t handle strawless drinking, get a reusable metal or bamboo straw to use instead!
