Summer’s nearly over, but there’s still time to celebrate Beach Day. While you’re there, pick up any garbage you see, and be sure you don’t leave any new trash of your own. It’s also Slinky Day. The talented spring was invented in the 19 40’s, and has been walking down stairs ever since.

Today is Frankenstein Day. Lurch around like Doctor Frankenstein’s creature, or read the original book, written by Mary Shelley. Maybe Frankenstein should have electrified marshmallows instead of people, since it’s Toasted Marshmallow Day. Have a bonfire, and roast one on a stick, or watch a marshmallow grow huge in the microwave!

David Rush has broken hundreds of Guinness world records, including 47 with his buddy Jonathan Hannon. They recently recaptured their record, for getting hit in the face with wet sponges the most times, in one minute. Jonathan pelted sponges at David’s face, and 96 found their target. Now his face is squeaky clean!

Everyone’s heard of football and basketball, but have you ever watched yak polo or underwater hockey? There are more than 8,000 different sports in the world, so pick a few new ones, and celebrate Sports Sampling Day. You might find out you have undiscovered talent, playing a sport you’d never tried.

We’ve had Sacrifice Our Wants For Others’ Needs Sunday, Motorist Consideration Monday, Touch A Heart Tuesday, Willing To Lend A Hand Wednesday, and Thoughtful Thursday. Today is More Herbs, Less Salt Day. If your food tastes bland, there are many seasonings you can use to add flavor instead of salt. Try smoked paprika, or curry powder. Fresh herbs like mint, basil, and rosemary are easy to grow in your kitchen window. It’s also Lemon Juice Day. Make some mint-basil-lemonade!

Every year, Nationwide Insurance gives a trophy, for the most unusual pet insurance claim. This year’s Hambone Award, named after a dog who got trapped in a refrigerator and ate an entire ham, was won by a dog named Ziya, who got injured protecting his family from an angry bull. Ziya’s all better now!

Do you ever listen to the radio? Today is Radio Commercial Day, so pay attention to the ads. Maybe there’s a catchy tune, to help you remember a product name, or a phone number repeated 4 times. Sometimes people talk really fast, to fit lots of information into a short period of time.

It’s Power Rangers Day! The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show came out in 1993. 5 ordinary teenagers morph into the Power Rangers, gaining special powers, assault machines called Zords, and stretchy suits. Get some friends together, pick your favorite Ranger color, and create a Megazord to fight off the bad guys. Go go Power Rangers!

It’s Bow Tie Day, so choose one that stands out, and get ready to spend some time at your computer. It’s also Crackers Over The Keyboard Day, and Race Your Mouse Around The Icons Day! When your computer’s running slow, eat a snack and play with the cursor, to help pass the time.
