Do you love dessert? Then you’re going to love, that today is Eat An Extra Dessert Day! Treat yourself to 2 different desserts, or take an extra helping of your favorite one. Make sure you spread the word, so people know you’re celebrating an official holiday, and not just being greedy.

Macadamia trees are evergreens native to Australia, that produce nuts. The shells are so hard to open, that the only Australian animals who can get into them are cockatoos! Luckily, humans can open them with tools, because they’re delicious! Macadamia nuts are poisonous to dogs, so celebrate Macadamia Nut Day with your human friends.

Today is Bowling League Day. Find a bowling alley and try bowling for fun. If you enjoy it, you can join a league, and compete. It’s also Welsh Rarebit Day. It sounds like rabbit, but the recipe is actually melty cheese with spices like mustard, on toast. Now I’m hungry.

Today is Skyscraper Day. What’s the tallest building in your city? The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It’s 2,717 feet tall, which is more than half-a-mile! Have you heard of wooden plyscrapers? Strong cross-laminated timber, or CLT, is produced in Riddle Oregon, by gluing wood together. Neat!

Islands filled with reeds, have been popping up in Utah’s Great Salt Lake. Scientists found a natural network of pathways, carrying fresh water from an underground reservoir, to mounds of earth in the salty area. The fresh water helps vegetation thrive on the mounds, but gets saltier as it spreads out.

30% of Poland is covered in forests. A forestry robot will soon be helping to take care of them. The robot can access locations that humans can’t reach, just like a goat. Robogoat will perform land surveys, tree inventories, tick collecting, species counting, and even scans for historical artifacts.

During a recent study, researchers found that many cats, like to play fetch. While 80% of dogs seem to enjoy playing fetch, only 40% of cats appeared interested. Cats also preferred to be the one to initiate the game. The next time your cat brings an object to you, throw it across the room.

The purple woman’s silver spirit turned the chimney orange. Most of the words in that sentence don’t rhyme with anything, perfect for No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day! It’s also Tofu Day. Made from soybeans, it’s a great alternative to meat in any dish. Fried tofu in ginger-soy sauce is my favorite.
