Did you know there are scientists, who tickle rats? They are exploring the idea, that mammals instinctively like to play and have fun. Part of the research involves tickling rats, who giggle and chase hands, or play with each other. Playing might develop parts of the brain, connected with memory, emotion, and decision-making.

Flowers Instead of Hay

Shropshire Hills in England, is an area covered with heather and wildflowers, after a huge restoration. For years, farmers had plowed up the meadows, and planted hay. As part of the Stepping Stones project, volunteers replanted wildflowers, to create native habitat corridors. Bees, birds, and other animals, are enjoying the new habitat.

Froggy Spa Day

Researchers in Australia, discovered that certain frogs can benefit, from using saunas. A fungal infection called chytrid, affects hundreds of species, but the fungus can’t survive at higher temperatures. A sauna is a small room that’s used for hot air or steam bath therapy. Hanging out in saunas, helped frogs recover from chytrid.

Simply Satisfying

It’s Simplicity Day, so keep everything simple. Who needs a fancy hot fudge sundae for dessert, when a simple bowl of red jello, is so satisfying! Besides, it’s Eat Your Jello Day.
