Don’t be surprised, if your teacher has some extra fun with mathematics today. It’s World Maths Day, so there are online math competitions for kids around the world. You could dress up as a famous mathematician, play math games, and practice equations using M&Ms. You can eat all the right answers.

Up Down Up Down Up Down

Rob Stirling broke the world record, for doing the most pushups in 1 hour. The 60-year-old man from Florida, completed 3264 pushups, a bit less than 1-per-second. He’s been eyeing another world record, for the most pushups in 1 minute. The current record is 144, which is more than 2-per-second!

Bell Got There First

On March 7th 18 76, Alexander Graham Bell received the first patent for a telephone. A patent gives the owner the rights to their invention. Elisha Gray and Antonio Meucci also invented versions of the telephone, but Bell got his patent first! Celebrate Alexander Graham Bell Day, by talking to someone on a phone.

Power Plant for Your Body

Today is Plant Power Day, reminding you to eat plant-based foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains are packed with power, so try eating a vegan diet all day. Your body will be happy to get healthy food, and the Earth will be happy you’re eating something it grew itself!

Flapjack Cereal

How do you like to eat your fruits, nuts and grains? Since it’s Cereal Day and Flapjack Day, you can experiment! Have pancakes with walnuts and blueberries, oatmeal with pecans and peaches, and cornflakes with bananas and almond milk. It sounds like a delicious all-day breakfast is on today’s menu.

Did You Solve the Mystery?

An overdue book was returned to a library in Massachusetts, only 56 years late. The Alfred Hitchcock book, called “Mystery of the Green Ghost,” came back with a note apologizing profusely, saying they’d felt bad about it for years. The book’s due date said 19 67. Thankfully, the library doesn’t charge late fees.

That’s a Big Baby

Last month, a 270-pound baby was born in Texas. His mom’s name is Belle, and she’s an Asian elephant living at the Fort Worth Zoo. The zoo hasn’t announced his name yet, but he’s already walking. He’s a little uncoordinated with his trunk, but he’ll get the hang of it!

Don’t Sneeze On Me

Springtime brings allergies for many people, and you could be super-sneezy. Remember to sneeze into your elbow! Also, wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, every time you blow your nose. Watch the Mythbusters Contamination Experiment, and Safe Sneeze, on YouTube. You’ll see how easy it is to spread your snot to everyone. Gross.

Cheesecake and Oreos

Before you get dressed today, you should know it’s Dress Day. Dress up in a dress! It’s also White Chocolate Cheesecake Day, Frozen Food Day, and Oreo Cookie Day. Clarence Birdseye discovered, flash freezing food keeps it tasty! Thaw out some frozen cheesecake, microwave a frozen dinner, and eat your favorite flavor of Oreos!
