Digging holes and pulling weeds can give you a good workout. Plant some vegetables, for Gardening Exercise Day. If you want more rocks and less dirt, explore a cool cave or limestone landscape, because it’s also Caves and Karst Day. A hot day is a perfect time to try spelunking in a cool cave!

Today is Drive-In Movie Day. Drive-in theaters let you enjoy the outdoors, while going to the movies! If you can’t find a drive-in, sit in the car, and project a movie on your garage door. It’s also Yo-Yo Day. After you get the hang of it, learn some tricks, like around the world.

Today is World Environment Day. Protecting the environment is everyone’s job. Recycle, leave natural habitats for animals, don’t litter, and don’t pollute the water. Then start writing the lawmakers of your country, and demand that they force corporations to do the same. No one should be allowed to pollute our beautiful planet!

Today is Gingerbread Day! A moist gingerbread loaf is much different than the cookies used in gingerbread houses, but they have the same great flavor. You’d have a hard time eating the biggest gingerbread house. It was built in Texas in 2013 and was 60 feet long. You’d have to live in it instead!

Throw a meatless patty on the grill. It’s Veggie Burger Day! You can try an Impossible Burger at a restaurant if you want something that tastes like meat. It’s also Hot Air Balloon Day. You can make your own hot air balloon, take a ride, or just watch them float through the sky!

Dyslexia is a common learning disability, that can make it difficult to read or write. But some of history’s greatest minds, such as Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, and Leonardo da Vinci, have been dyslexic. Scientists discovered that people with dyslexia are better at problem solving. They can adapt to challenges and explore the unknown.

Who’re the toughest dudes in the ocean? Sharks, with their 300 teeth? Electric eels, with their shocking touch? Jellyfish, with their venomous tentacles? How about the stonefish, who has switchblade cheekbones! Stonefish have lachrymal sabers, which are bones that deploy horizontally under the eyes, and fold back in after they’ve warned you to back off!

Are you putting your sunblock on correctly? Chances are, you’re not using enough. Researchers found that most people only use 1/3 of the amount necessary, to properly protect their skin from the sun. While it will still offer some protection, you need a thick layer to truly block harmful rays.

Today is Corgi Day. The little dog with the short legs, was Queen Elizabeth’s favorite. She had more than 30 corgis during her lifetime. Do you remember the Million Corg March? Hundreds of adorable short-legged corgis wandered around Washington DC dressed in costumes, from coffee cups to crowns. I hope they have another one.

Here kitty-kitty-kitty. Come get a hug! It’s Hug Your Cat Day, so hold your head close, and listen to your furball’s rumbling purr. It’s also Cheese Day. Be adventurous, and try some new varieties, like chocolate cheese! You could even look up a recipe, and try making your own cheese, like fresh mozzarella.
