In 20 21, NFL football player Rob Gronkowski set a world record, by catching a football dropped from a height of 600 feet. That record has now been broken, by Brendan Fevola. The former pro Australian rules football player, caught a football dropped from a helicopter, 728 feet up. That must have stung!

Making Diamonds Out of Plastic

Scientists are always looking for ways, to use recycled plastic. They’ve recently discovered how to turn plastic into diamonds. A thin layer plastic was transformed into tiny synthetic nano-diamonds, after being hit with a laser beam and heated to 6000° Celsius. They are used to make cutting and polishing tools, because of their hardness.

There’s a Bear in My Pool

Steve Bray has a backyard pool, at his home in California. He was surprised to find someone he didn’t know, using it last week. Steve shared video footage, of a bear climbing over his fence, to take a refreshing dip in the pool. The bear seemed to be enjoying its personal end-of-summer pool party.

Scarecrows All Over Town

A small village in England, is attracting thousands of visitors, with their annual scarecrow competition. The Brinklow Scarecrow Festival features more than 80 displays of unusual scarecrows, outside people’s homes. You can see scarecrow versions of characters like the minions, ET and Elliot, Spiderman, and even the Queen. You probably won’t find any crows.

In the United States and Canada, the first Monday in September is the holiday called Labor Day. It was first created by trade unions to celebrate workers. Labor Day is also the unofficial end of summer, as most public pools close after this weekend. They’ll see you again next May!
