Put your forks away. It’s Something On A Stick Day! Pierce your peas with a toothpick, freeze your juice on a popsicle stick, and skewer your entire dinner on a kebab. Dip strawberries on a chopstick in chocolate fondue. Then roast marshmallows on a stick over a campfire. Everything’s better cooked on a stick!

Doggo Becomes a Hero

A family in Rhode Island, has a new hero. It’s Cooter, their dog. Cooter alerted them in the middle of the night, that something was wrong. It turned out to be a fire, on the porch outside. Thanks to their good doggie, the family escaped unharmed, and firefighters extinguished the house fire.

Time For Swimming Lessons

A maternity hospital in Florida, is used to seeing new babies, although they don’t usually have feathers. But last week, a mama duck showed off her new ducklings, who had hatched in the hospital’s courtyard. Staff escorted mama and her 10 ducklings through the hospital, so they could exit and find a nice pond.

Today is World Theatre Day. Whether you see a musical on Broadway, take part in a school play, or go to a puppet theatre, it’s great to see a live performance. It’s also Neighbor Day, so you could create a play with your friends, and perform for the whole neighborhood.

A Scribbled Masterpiece

Here’s a fun activity to do with someone, for Scribble Day. Each person draws a scribble on a piece of paper. Now exchange papers, and turn the line into a drawing! Scribbles can become works of art. Just look up the famous artist, Cy Twombly, for inspiration. Time to scribble a masterpiece!

Josephs, Joeys, Josephines, get ready: today is National Joe Day. Joe is also a nickname for coffee. It’s Quirky Country Music Song Title Day too. “My T-Rex Ran Away With My Legos and All I’ve Got to Drink is This Cup of Old Joe,” would be a great song. Now YOU make one up!

240 Pounds of Extra Cheers

Chad Kempel ran his latest half-marathon, with his own portable cheering section. He completed the 13-mile race, while pushing his quintuplets in a stroller. His 5 4-year-olds encouraged him by yelling, “Run faster Dad!” He finished in 2 hours and 19 minutes, setting a world record for fastest half-marathon pushing quintuplets in a stroller.

Massive Ice Shelf Collapsed

Last week, the Conger Ice Shelf, in East Antarctica, broke apart. The 460-square-mile section of ice, which had connected 2 glaciers for thousands of years, collapsed around March 15th. A recent heatwave, with temperatures reaching 70° Fahrenheit warmer than usual, helped melt it down. The ice shelf was the size of New York City.

Lights Out At 8:30 PM

At 8:30 pm today, turn off all your lights for Earth Hour. People around the globe will participate at 8:30 in their time zone, creating a wave of darkness sweeping across the Earth. Earth Hour was created to bring attention to each person’s part in protecting our planet. What will you do to help?

Today is Spinach Day. Popeye used to eat it from a can, to get stronger, but it looks more appealing in a salad! It’s also Purple Day, started by 9 year-old Cassidy Megan, to increase epilepsy awareness. Epilepsy affects 65,000,000 people around the world. Wear purple to show your support!
