If you see someone snoozing in public today, they might be celebrating Public Sleeping Day. Don’t wake them up! It’s also Tooth Fairy Day. The Tooth Fairy won’t come out in public, so if you lose a tooth today, don’t try to take a nap to get an early visit!

Lego brick sets, come in everything from Star Wars to superheroes, spacecraft to flowers, and cars to houses. Now there are also sets, with miniature MRI scanners. Lego has donated 600 of the sets to hospitals, to help kids who have to get an MRI scan, understand what the big machine does.

How would you like to get to play Minecraft, in school? A pair of Canadian professors, think the game could easily help teach skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. But the Minecraft world, can also demonstrate the rise of the modern world, and the impact of industrialization, on the environment.

It’s International Polar Bear Day! Polar bears have black skin, and transparent hollow hairs that scatter light, making their fur look white! They can grow 9 feet tall, and have paws one foot wide. Polar bears live in Arctic sea ice regions, so climate change and melting ice, has caused them to become endangered.

Today is Retro Day, so pick your favorite decade before cell phones, and have fun! Wear groovy bell-bottoms from the 70’s, or a dapper suit from the 50’s. Play video games from the 80’s, or watch movies from the 60’s. But every decade had yummy strawberries, which is good, because it’s also Strawberry Day!

Ibrahim Sadeq is fascinated with balancing stuff. He attempted to break the world record, for balancing eggs on the back of his hand. He only succeeded in tying it, by holding an astounding 18 eggs on his hand, for 5 seconds. The Iraqi man said it requires patience, focus, and a sense of calmness.

Australian ornithologists, were trying to study magpies. The scientists put backpack tracking devices on the birds, hoping to learn their travel patterns. Instead, they learned how magpies solve problems and help each other. Within minutes, other magpies started removing the backpacks from their friends, by undoing the harnesses. So much for that experiment!

Today is World Sword Swallower’s Day. There aren’t too many places to watch sword swallowing, and we certainly don’t want you to try it, but it sure sounds cool! Try saying, black bug’s blood,10 times instead, since it’s also International Tongue Twister Contest Day. The only danger, is tying your tongue in knots.

Today is Carpe Diem Day, which means Seize the Day. There’s no time like the present, to do something exciting, because you never know what the future will bring. It’s also Pistachio Day, so while you’re seizing the day, seize a bag of pistachios, and seize a hammer to smash open the uncracked nuts.
