They nicknamed him Thin Lizard, and took him to Brighton Reptile Rescue, to fatten him up, and find him a good home.

The White House, has a new First Cat. Willow used to be a farm cat. When Dr Jill Biden was giving a speech in Pennsylvania, Willow wandered onstage, and then sat in the front row listening. Jill asked if she could adopt the cat. Now Willow sits in the Oval Office, with President Biden!

Today is Create A Vacuum Day, but it doesn’t mean suck up all the snacks. A vacuum, is a space where there is no matter, or where the pressure inside a space is lower than the pressure outside of it. A suction cup creates a vacuum. Look online, for easy vacuum experiments to try.

Today is Bubble Gum Day, which encourages schools to let kids chew gum for a day, in exchange for a donation to charity. People have been chewing gum for more than 5000 years. They started by chewing blobs of wax, tree sap, or bark tar. The first bubble gum, Dubble Bubble, wasn’t invented until 1928.

I think it’s a day for feeling warm and cozy. It’s Sweater Day! Turn down the heat and dress in your favorite sweater. Be careful not to spill soup on it, because it’s also Homemade Soup Day. Try making vegetable soup with all the leftover vegetables in the fridge, and save some for me!

A small island on the coast of England, is looking for a new landlord. The job includes managing the pub on Piel Island, as well as taking over a beer-soaked throne, carved from oak. The King of Piel will share the island with one other resident, and lots of seals.

The planets of Uranus and Neptune, are similar in size, mass, and rotation rates. They’re both surrounded by methane, so why are their colors so different? Neptune is a deep blue, while Uranus is a pale blue-green. Planetary physicists found, that Uranus has a thicker layer of haze in the atmosphere, diluting its color.

In 2020, a 477-mile-long bolt of lightning, stretched across 3 states, making it the longest recorded distance of a lightning flash. A bolt over Uruguay and Argentina also set a record, for longest duration of a lightning flash. It lasted 17.1 seconds. The record-setting bolts were just spotted, thanks to new satellite-tracking technology.

Today is Carrot Cake Day. The natural sweetness of carrots, makes it one of the few vegetables, that sounds good in a dessert! You can even make a version for dogs, to celebrate Golden Retriever Day. The gentle dog is one of the most popular breeds for families in the United States. Good doggie!
