Pavel Valla Bertini, loves the big top. His family has been performing in circuses, for 5 generations. The circus tent had to stretch pretty high, for the Czech performer’s latest act. Pavel rode a unicycle, that was a record-breaking 29.8 feet tall! Technically, the unicycle had 17 wheels, but they were stacked vertically.

The Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, in Kilgetty Wales, was alerted that the banded mongoose exhibit, contained a mysterious creature, swimming in the water. Zookeepers quickly investigated, and found the intruder was just a toy crocodile. They breathed a little sigh of relief, that it wasn’t a miniature Loch Ness Monster.

A pair of alpacas named Boogie and Woogie, danced through the streets of Oakland California. The father and son duo, had escaped through an unlocked gate, for a little adventure. The alpacas, which are like llamas but smaller, were captured and returned safely to their home, after giving people some unexpected smiles.

What was your New Year’s resolution this year? Are you keeping it? If you already broke your promise to yourself, don’t worry. Today is Stick To Your New Year’s Resolution Day, so you can try again. Maybe your resolution was to be on time, but it’s never too late, to start a good habit.

Today is Marzipan Day. Marzipan is made using almond meal, and sugar or honey. The paste can be rolled out to cover cakes, or formed into sweet edible sculptures, like tiny animals or fruits, realistically painted with food coloring. I’d like to make all the planets. You could make a pan of marzipan Marzes!

Does your cat love to sit in boxes? One researcher decided to see, if cats would sit in an optical illusion of a box. He placed 4 Pacman shapes on the floor, so the mouths formed the corners of a square. Many cats sat in the middle of them. Try it with your cat!

A treasure trove of ancient coins, stayed hidden in a Spanish cave for centuries, until a hungry badger dug them up. The animal was looking for food during a snowstorm, and left the stash of useless coins for a local to find. The coins date back to the Roman Empire, over 1,700 years ago!

A bones of a giant ichthyosaur, were discovered in the United Kingdom. The 32-foot-long sea dragon fossil, was found sticking out of the mud, and is the most complete skeleton of its kind, ever found in Britain. Ichthyosaurs were water-dwelling reptiles that lived during the Jurassic period. This one is 182,000,000 years old.

Morse code assigned a pattern of short and long taps to each letter, to communicate by telegraph before telephones were invented. Use it to send messages by flashlight, or tapping on your desk.
