Astronomers have spotted a black hole so massive, that it has 6 galaxies trapped in its gravitational pull. It formed when the universe, which is 13.8 billion years old, was only 1 billion. The black hole is a billion times more massive than our sun, and traps galaxies like a spider’s web.

Have you ever tried to carve a pencil? Sharpening it doesn’t count. Taiwanese artist Lee Chien-chu carved an incredible chain of 168 links, out of a single graphite pencil. He now holds the world record for most chain links carved from a pencil, but it’s impossible to write with. It’s too floppy!

In recent years, scientists have found microbes, that like to eat plastic. While experimenting with the microscopic organisms, they created a mutant enzyme with a huge appetite, that devours 20% more plastic. Now researchers have created new super mutants, that break down more types of plastic, so they can be completely recycled. They’re Earth’s micro-superheroes!

The oldest fossil feather ever found, is around 150,000,000 years old. Scientists have debated about which animal it came from, since it was discovered over 150 years ago. New evidence points strongly, to an Archaeopteryx. It was likely a black wing feather from the late Jurassic dinosaur. We’ll never be 100% sure, unless time travel is invented!

It’s October, and Halloween is coming. COVID-19 might make it risky to go trick-or-treating, at least on this planet. SpaceX’s solution for 4 as-tronauts, is to send them into space! The next Dragon Crew flight will take place on Halloween, under a full moon. You can watch the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blast off online.

It’s Homemade Cookies Day, so here’s my favorite recipe. Mix 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter, with 1 egg. Press balls of dough with a fork to make a criss-cross pattern. Bake at 350 degrees, for 10 minutes! It’s also World Vegetarian Day. Skip the meat! Cookies don’t have meat in them, so you can celebrate both!
