Copper Mountain Colorado is home to one ski resort and one very friendly bunny. A rabbit repeatedly tried to hop into visitors’ cars. After looking at photos, animal control officers determined the bunny was not a pet, but simply a wild wanna-be hitchhiker. If captured, the rabbit will be released farther away from traffic.

A baby sea lion in California, got a little too adventurous. He wandered out of the water, and was found in a parking lot. Police took the sea lion, nicknamed Babymac, to the Marine Mammal Center. They’ll take care of him until he’s old enough to survive in the wild on his own.

Will you have snow today, for World Snow Day? Study a snowflake closely. Build a snowman, or have a snowball fight. Fresh snow is the best for making snow angels, but be sure to catch a snowflake on your tongue, as it’s coming down! Mix maple syrup into clean snow for a tasty treat.

It’s Winnie the Pooh Day! A-A Milne’s books about the lovable bear, Piglet, Tigger, and friends, were inspired by a black bear at the London Zoo named Winnie. Christopher Robin, the author’s son, loved to visit him! It’s also Thesaurus Day, a wonderful, fantastic, magnificent, phenomenal, terrific tool to give you synonyms for words.

Did you receive any gift cards, as holiday presents? Don’t let them get lost or forgotten. Every year, billions of dollars in gift cards go unspent. Today is Use Your Gift Card Day, so start spending! You can even shop online. Gather up old cards too, because they’re good for at least 5 years.

Did you ever have a big pot of soup, that everyone got tired of eating? Other people might have the same problem. Luckily, it’s Soup Swap Day! You can exchange some of your soup, for some of theirs. You could even trade some spicy chili, since it’s also Hot Heads Chili Day.

If you’ve ever been to San Francisco California, you’ve seen the very, very, very steep hills. Before cars were invented, horses often fell over, trying to pull carriages up the streets. So 153 years ago, Andrew Smith Hallidie patented cable cars. Cars run on a railway, pulled by ropes overhead. Happy Cable Car Day!

Kids also invented popsicles, ear muffs, the trampoline, and Braille. Have you ever invented anything? Start writing all your ideas down. You might have the next great invention!

Scary things are happening in the United States, especially for people who moved here from another country. Children could teach some of our leaders how to stop being a bully. We know that you can’t just take things that belong to others, or be mean to people that look different. Remember to be kind.
