Get your eclipse glasses ready. On June 10th, an annular solar eclipse of the sun will take place. Many people in the Northern Hemisphere will be able to see the Sun as a ring of fire, as the Moon moves in front of it. Other people will only see a partial eclipse, during sunrise.

It’s World Oceans Day, which means it’s time to show oceans some love. What can you do, to help protect or clean the ocean? Do some research and find out! Then go to an uncrowded beach to enjoy the water. Pick up any trash you find, so it doesn’t wash out to sea!

Upsy daisy, rise and shine! Wake up with a smile, because it’s Upsy Daisy Day! It’s also Best Friends Day. Celebrate by brainstorming with your best friend to concoct a special drink, for Name Your Poison Day. Be sure to give it a fun name. A pickle-pineapple juice drink could be a Pinnacle!

Armor is Not Raccoon-Proof

An armored vehicle at a US Army Base, couldn’t keep a masked intruder out. Soldiers were caught off guard, when they got into a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, that was occupied by a raccoon. They bolted out of the tank-like vehicle, followed by the raccoon, who escaped into the Colorado desert.

10 Trees Apiece

The Clyde Climate Forest project, is a plan to plant trees, in Glasgow Scotland. Over 18,000,000 trees will be planted, to create an urban forest network. The trees will improve air quality, by soaking up carbon emissions. There will be 10 new trees for each person in Glasgow. I hope everyone gets to name their saplings!

Life on Venus?

NASA is planning 2 missions, that will study the lost habitable world of Venus. Scientists detected phosphine, a possible sign of life. The DAVINCI+ and VERITAS missions will look for evidence of life on the planet, which has extremely high temperatures and an atmosphere full of sulfuric acid. Microbes could be living in the clouds.

June Bugs on Monday

Today is Thank God It’s Monday Day. The weekend is finally over, so we can get back to school or work. Yippee! It’s also June Bug Day. June bugs are beetles in the Phyllophaga genus. They’re emerging from the ground after up to 3 years, ready to eat and find a mate. Happy hunting!

Rewind to the Part About Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Hooray, it’s Chocolate Ice Cream Day! While you enjoy your frozen dairy treat, watch a movie on videotape. It’s VCR Day, and you must know someone, who still has their video cassette recorder. Remember to please be kind and rewind!

Learning to Echolocate

Animals like dolphins and bats, use echolocation to locate things. They make noises, and the sound reflects off nearby objects. Humans can also learn to use echolocation. By making a clicking sound and hearing how the sound bounces back, people who are blind can navigate unfamiliar territory, and even ride bikes.
