Australia’s oldest rock painting, dates back over 17,000 years. Painted on a rock ceiling in the Kimberley region, is a kangaroo! The outline is filled in with dashes, to make it look hairy. Scientists were able to date the painting, by measuring the age of ancient wasp nests built under and over it.

The Mars 20 20 mission, has started sending back data from the Red Planet. For the first time ever, we got to hear what it sounds like on Mars. You can listen to a recording of the wind gusting past the Perseverance rover, see video footage of the landing, and view lots of photos, at NASA.gov.

Today is Banana Bread Day. It started out as a way to use up the mushy bananas that nobody wanted to eat, but it’s delicious! It’s also Dog Biscuit Day, so give your poochie a treat. Find a good recipe, and bake him a batch of biscuits so good, that you’d eat them too!

Kitty Saves the Day

Sandi Martin’s family recently adopted a cat named Lilly, in Sherwood Oregon. Sandi noticed Lilly sniffing oddly, at their gas fireplace. It turned out to have a dangerous gas leak, which was so faint that the humans hadn’t smelled it. What a nice way for kitty to say, “Thank you for my new home.”

Today is Cook A Sweet Potato Day, so eat sweet potato pie, fries, chips, casseroles, or simply baked. While your sweet potatoes cook, celebrate World Yoga Day, by learning some yoga poses and meditating.

Identified Flying Objects

People in California were excited to see mysterious lights in the sky this week, wondering if they were UFOs. The lights turned out to be SpaceX satellites, which orbit much closer to the Earth than most satellites, and reflect light. 60 Starlink satellites had been launched 2 days earlier, to provide Earthlings with better internet service.
