Arizona firefighter Dan Volcko, was in the hospital after getting COVID-19. Since he was quarantined, he couldn’t have any visitors. Imagine his surprise, when a group of his coworkers appeared at the window! His firefighter friends had pulled a firetruck up to the hospital, and extended the ladder to reach his room.

You can often tell what part of a country someone is from, by their accent. A New Yorker speaking English, sounds completely different from an Alabamian. Researchers found, some animals also have different dialects. A naked mole rat’s accent, depends on its colony’s queen. It’s like a secret password, for their colony members.

Did you wake up in a bad mood this morning? Go ahead and be grumpy; it’s Curmudgeons Day! A curmudgeon is a bad-tempered person. It’s also Puzzle Day, and Cornchip Day. There are too many pieces in this puzzle! These chips taste stale! It can be fun to act like a curmudgeon!

As the sun sets tonight, go outside and watch for the moon to appear on the Eastern horizon. January’s first full moon is called the Wolf Moon, and it will look orange when it rises. Every full moon has a special name. In May, it will be a Super Blood Flower Moon Eclipse.

This year, the Carnival season of Mardi Gras, will look a lot different in New Orleans. The pandemic will make it unsafe to have crowded parades. Instead of creating elaborate floats for the parade, some people are decorating their houses. They’ll sit on their house floats, throwing beads and trinkets to pedestrians walking by.

Linda Tutt High School, in Sanger Texas, has a well-stocked school store. Instead of the standard school supplies, it carries fresh food, pasta, and laundry detergent. The best part? It’s all free. Students run the store to give them job skills, and learn the value of helping the community.
