Today is Green Juice Day. Smoothies made with spinach or kale, green grapes, and other fruits and vegetables, might surprise you with their deliciousness! It’s also Peanut Brittle Day. The buttery hard candy is full of peanuts, and can stick in your teeth, so you can wash it down with your healthy green juice!

Cars have special safety features, like airbags, to protect you in an accident. Motorcycles? Not so much. That’s why Moses Shahrivar, invented motorcycle safety jeans. Airbags in the pants inflate, if the motorcyclist gets in an accident. There are already airbag vests for sale, to protect a rider’s upper half. Don’t forget your helmet!

Over the weekend, the Tennessee River got a makeover. 25 volunteers spent 3 days, gathering 9,208 pounds of trash from the riverbanks. Volunteers adopted 3 miles of the river, to try and keep that section clean. More cleanups are planned, with a goal of removing 100,000 pounds of trash, by the end of the year.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Florida yesterday, carrying an impressive load. It was packed with 10 satellites, and 133 spacecraft, which were deployed for the government and other companies. After the Falcon’s reusable main booster separated, it returned to Earth and landed on a spaceport drone ship, called Of Course I Still Love You.

Today is Opposite Day, so say the opposite of what you mean. Ice cream is horrible! I love getting tons of homework! I want to clean the toilets! Don’t forget to say, “Just kidding, it’s Opposite Day,” or you might confuse a lot of people! Just don’t give opposite answers on tests!

Did you know it’s Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day? The engineers who invented bubble wrap first tried to sell it as wallpaper, then greenhouse insulation. It wasn’t commonly used for packaging until 1961. But I’ll bet people were popping it from the very beginning! Have a popping party! The sound’s only annoying if you’re not participating.

Some very hairy kids showed up at Morningside Elementary School last week. They were a couple of goats! The goats had wandered into the school, after escaping from a nearby property. They were escorted back home. The human kids, could use a perfect excuse that day, and say “A goat ate my homework.”

What do you want to be, when you grow up? Perhaps you’d like to be a candyologist! A Canadian company called Candy Funhouse, is hiring candyologists to taste-test their confections. They’ll pay people $30-per-hour, to sample and review some of their 3000 delicious treats from home. Sounds like the perfect job.

Did you know there’s a crater on Mars, that looks like a happy face? The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter HiRISE camera, took photos at different times over the years. The blobby areas that look like eyes, a nose, and a smiley mouth, are all growing, due to thermal erosion. Mars is happier than ever!

Today is Compliment Day. A compliment is when you say something nice to someone. You could tell them you like their shirt, or that they’re really good at soccer. Give your compliments to the chef after your next meal, or make a stranger’s day by telling them they have a nice smile. It’s easy!
