Humans can perceive three dimensions because each eye sees a slightly different view and our brains combine them. Praying mantises are the only invertebrates that can see in 3D, also called stereopsis. Researchers gave them teeny tiny 3D glasses and showed them 3D movies to study their depth perception!

Scientists believe the Moon was formed by a giant object crashing into the Earth’s crust. A study shows how the Moon started separating from Earth 4 billion years ago. The hypothesis is that the Sun was weaker, most of Earth’s water was frozen, and a hot Moon bulged as its poles slowly froze.

In the next few weeks, the Cincinnati Zoo will be introducing their baby red pandas to the public. The 2 cubs were born in June, to parents Lin and Kola. After being cooped up indoors all summer, they’ll be happy to explore their new outdoor habitat!

A new kind of solar panel is making its debut in Australia. The cells are printed onto plastic sheets less than 1 millimeter thick, for less than $10 per square meter! The cheap and easy-to-install cells are being tested for 6 months, and will hopefully be available to everyone in a few years!
