2 years ago, lawyer Afroz Shah decided to clean up a polluted beach in India. Versova Beach was becoming a landfill, shin-deep in trash. Eventually thousands of volunteers pitched in to turn it back into a pristine sandy beach. Now, for the first time in decades, Olive Ridley sea turtles have hatched on the beach! Amazing!

Plastic straws are one of those little things that have a big impact on the environment. They pollute the oceans, cause harm to animals, and never biodegrade. McDonald’s will begin testing paper straws in its UK locations starting in May! This is a great step towards reducing single-use plastics. Good job Ronald McDonald!

People have been taking a big wad of aluminum foil, then meticulously hammering, smoothing, and polishing out every tiny wrinkle. 10 and 12 year-old boys in Vicksburg Mississippi were wandering through plowed up dirt in their yard when they found a mastodon jawbone! Caid and Shawn Sellers and their cousin Michael Mahaltic pulled the prehistoric bone into the house to show their parents, and a museum confirmed their discovery. The boys plan to keep their exciting fossil!

Residents of Trinity Bay in Newfoundland Canada rescued a pod of dolphins last week. The dolphins were trapped in shallow water, surrounded by ice that was spreading towards the shore. The fire chief, Stanley Legge, started clearing ice with an excavator. Boats continued to cut a path out of the harbor until the dolphins could swim free!
