The Screen Keeps Freezing

Owura Kwadwo Hottish teaches computer science at a middle school in Ghana, but the school doesn’t have any computers. He has been drawing diagrams of computer programs on the chalkboard for 6 years! After a photo of his classroom went viral on Facebook, Microsoft is giving the school an entire computer lab!

Is That Guy Real?

If you are in London today and see a bunch of men on top of buildings, don’t worry. American artists Mark Jenkins and Sandra Fernandez made the sculptures! Mark’s sculptures made out of packaging tape look like real people, but they might be embedded in a wall or hanging out on a lamppost. Maybe you’ll spot one someday!

Learning to Read Pays Off

Last week, a stray dog in Brazil wandered into a bookstore, grabbed a book, and left. The book he shoplifted was appropriately named “The Days of Abandonment”! The smart doggie was caught on video and seen by local animal rescuers. They took in the abandoned dog, cleaned and fed him, and he’ll soon be adopted!

Change for Chickens

9 year-old Avery Baker wanted to raise chickens, but her family’s property in Michigan was too small to meet the regulations for raising livestock. Avery wrote a letter to Clay Township’s Supervisor asking him to allow a smaller number of chickens on less property. A year later, the rules are changing thanks to Avery! Bok-bawk!

I’d Like a Sundae, Texas Size

At the Spirit of Texas Festival last Saturday, there was an ice cream sundae big enough for everyone! The mile-long ice cream sundae broke the world record and used 500 gallons of ice cream, 2000 cans of whipped cream, 300 gallons of chocolate and strawberry sauce, 25 pounds of sprinkles and 20,000 cherries! Sounds dee-eee-licious!

As Orange as Snow?

Across Eastern Europe, it looks like Mars. In Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Russia, the snow is orange! It turns out there was a big sandstorm in the Sahara Desert. Fine particles of orange sand were lifted into the atmosphere, traveled over 2000 miles, and came back down mixed with snow!
