Today is National Wildlife Day. What animals are native to your area? Animals that seem normal to you might be exotic to people in other parts of the world! They might have to go to the zoo to see a squirrel. Keep a bowl of water outside, and you’ll get plenty of animal visitors.

Macadamia trees are evergreens native to Australia, that produce nuts. The shells are so hard to open, that the only Australian animals who can get into them, are cockatoos! Luckily, humans can open them with tools, because they’re delicious! Macadamia nuts are poisonous to dogs, so celebrate Macadamia Nut Day with your human friends.

In the United States and Canada, the first Monday in September is the holiday called Labor Day. It was first created by trade unions to celebrate workers. Labor Day is also the unofficial end of summer, as most public pools close after this weekend. They’ll see you again next May!

Record-breaking heat and a drought, caused water levels to drop in Texas, revealing giant dinosaur tracks. Dinosaur Valley State Park, holds footprints of sauropods and theropods, that were made 113,000,000 years ago. The newly uncovered tracks, likely belong to the 7-ton Acrocanthosaurus and the 44-ton Paluxysaurus. Volunteers spent weeks, cleaning sediment from the tracks.

A city in Mexico, holds the new world record, for biggest ball of quesillo. The pulled quesillo cheese, also known as oaxaca cheese, was prepared by a team in Pijijiapan Chiapas. The finished ball of cheese was more than 3 feet in diameter, and weighed 1,230 pounds! It was served to spectators afterwards.

Today is Bowling League Day. Find a bowling alley and try bowling for fun. If you enjoy it, you can join a league, and compete. It’s also Welsh Rarebit Day. It sounds like rabbit, but the recipe is actually melty cheese with spices like mustard, on toast. Now I’m hungry.
