Dalton Meyer has mastered the art of applause. The 20-year-old set the world record, for fastest handclaps. Using a special wrist-clapping technique, he clapped 1,140 times in 1 minute! He got interested in speed clapping when he was in elementary school, and worked his way up to 19 claps-per-second.

A JC Penney store in a Pennsylvania shopping mall, temporarily closed for an unexpected visitor. A deer had come through the mall’s food court entrance, then ran into Penney’s. It wandered through the store to the dressing rooms, but didn’t try anything on. The deer was finally escorted safely back outdoors.

NASA has released a photo, of a very happy Sun. The Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the image, showing dark spots in the shape of eyes and an adorable smile. The spots are actually coronal holes, where bursts of solar wind were released into space, but it’s more fun to think the Sun was smiling.

Don’t forget, on Tuesday, a lunar eclipse will occur. When the sun and moon are on opposite sides of the planet, called syzygy, the Earth’s shadow falls on the moon, making it appear red. Unlike a solar eclipse, you don’t need eye protection to view the show. Just wake up super-duper early, and check it out.

Last week, a team of 5 bakers in Mexico, created the world’s largest bread mosaic. They baked 20,689 loaves of bread, then used the bread like tiles, to create a huge 2,222-square-foot picture. The mosaic was an image of La Catrina, a skeleton figure used on the Mexican Day of the Dead.

A new type of owl, has been discovered on the island of Principe, off the west coast of Africa. Scientists studying the owl, determined it’s a unique species. The Principe scops owl’s scientific name, is Otus bikegila. It was named after a local park ranger, who first spotted the owl in the 19 90’s.

In many parts of the world, you got an extra hour to sleep in this morning. That’s because the clocks were set back one hour, since Daylight Saving Time ended. Not all countries use Daylight Saving, and some use different dates, so it can be confusing! Just remember, to spring forward, and fall back!
