Humongous Head Nods Hello

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, has been selling stuff for 40 years. They celebrated their anniversary, by unveiling the world’s largest bobblehead. The figure, a replica of their mascot, stands more than 16 1/2 feet high. The giant Ollie bobbles a big welcome, to visitors shopping in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania store.

Bats Roosting Up for the Dance

A homecoming dance in California, had been put on hold, after bats were discovered living in the school gym. The Northern California Bats rescue group, said they are probably Mexican free-tail bats. The bats could not be removed before Saturday’s dance, so it will be rescheduled. Maybe they should just have a Halloween dance.

As the Earth heats up, people are looking at desert architecture, to learn how to cool buildings without air conditioning. One method is using a wind catcher. The structure looks like a tall, wide chimney, with openings to catch the breeze. The air channels down, and pushes all the hot air out another tower.

Rafael Bridi already held the world record for highest slackline walk, after crossing a line between 2 hot air balloons. Now, he and his daredevil partner Alexander Shultz, set a record for the longest slackline walk over an active volcano. They carefully crossed 856 feet, suspended over the lava of Mount Yasur.

A Field of Sleepy Sheepies

When some people have trouble falling asleep, they try counting sheep. In Sussex England, you could stay in a field full of real sheep, to help you drift off to sleep. A clear dome with a big bed inside, called the Shleep Sanctuary, gives you the perfect view of sheep, under the stars.

Today is World Rabies Day. Louis Pasteur, who you can thank for pasteurized milk, also invented the rabies vaccine. It’s important to get your dogs and cats vaccinated, to protect them from animals that carry the deadly disease, like bats. Vaccinated animals also protect humans, in case their pet ever bites someone!
