Today is Gobstopper Day! If you like your candy to last a long time, get a giant jawbreaker, also known as gobstoppers. The candy ball is too hard to bite, so you can lick it for weeks instead. It’s also Cream Filled Doughnut Day, so stop by the doughnut shop to choose your favorite!

Sarah McNulty of Pennsylvania, has a hammock on her back porch, which she enjoys using during the day. One night, Sarah heard a noise outside, and looked out to see a raccoon lounging comfortably in her hammock. She posted a video of the contented raccoon, who spent most of the night relaxing in it.

Have you ever eaten ants on a log? Unless you’re an anteater, it was probably the cleverly-named celery snack. For Ants On A Log Day, spread some peanut butter on a stalk of celery, stick raisins in the peanut butter, and eat it! Since it’s also Chocolate Day, dip the end in chocolate first.

Some people think the number 13, breaking a mirror, or spilling salt, is bad luck. These are called superstitions, and are not actually true. Today is defy Superstition Day, so feel free to walk under ladders, step on all the cracks, and open umbrellas indoors. Just make sure there’s nothing in the way first!

Okay kids, what are we having for dinner tonight? It’s Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day! I suggest preparing something with peanuts, pickles and fortune cookies, because it’s also Peanut Day,  Fortune Cookie Day, and Snack A Pickle Day. Write your own fortunes for the cookies, like, ” Reward your children for making you dinner.”

Today is Roald Dahl Day, in honor of his birthday in 19 16. The children’s author wrote books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, and James and the Giant Peach. Roald was also a World War 2 Ace fighter pilot, a spy, a chocolate taste-tester, and an inventor.

Lori Keeton set a world record last year, by wakeboarding for 8 hours straight. Wakeboarding is like surfing, except you’re being towed by a boat, and riding the waves it creates. Lori recently broke her own record, after wakeboarding for 14 hours and 48 minutes. She was raising money, to teach veterans water sports.

A home in Queensland Australia had a reclining armchair, but it wasn’t very relaxing. That’s because a big snake had crawled into the bottom of it! The residents called Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, who carefully removed a large carpet python from the recliner. The snake was safely relocated back into the bush.
