After a week on the run, a wallaby was finally captured by police in Luxembourg. The pet wallaby, which is a smaller relative of a kangaroo, had escaped from its home in Belgium, and hopped across the border. Locals named the unusual tourist, Jumper. I hope he grabbed some souvenirs on his visit!

This Giant Shark Won’t Hurt You

International Whale Shark Day celebrates the biggest fish in the world. It’s not a whale, but it’s nearly as big! Whale sharks can reach 41 feet long. They eat tiny plankton, and have to travel great distances in tropical waters, to find enough to feed their giant bodies. Their teeth are only 6 millimeters long!

Send a Slinky by Pony Express

In 1860, before the United States Postal Service delivered to the wild west, there was the Pony Express. A chain of horses and riders, carried mail across vast stretches of land to deliver the mail. Today is Pony Express Day! It’s also Slinky Day, so celebrate the marvelous spring that can walk down stairs.

Today is Frankenstein Day. Lurch around like Dr. Frankenstein’s creature, or read the original book, written by Mary Shelley. Maybe Frankenstein should have electrified marshmallows instead, since it’s Toasted Marshmallow Day. Have a bonfire, and roast one on a stick, or watch a marshmallow grow huge in the microwave!

Ready to Rip

Bill Clark can rip through metal. He broke his own world record, by tearing 29 license plates in half, in 1 minute! The New York man was raising money for frontline workers, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I sure hope all those license plates were expired!

Unusual Entry Requirement

A group of islands in Brazil, has been closed to tourists since March, due to the pandemic. The Fernendo de Noronha archipelago is now preparing to allow visitors, with one restriction. The visitors must prove, they’ve already had COVID-19. For the record, there’s no guarantee that people who’ve already had COVID are immune.

Finally, a Flying Car

If you’ve ever watched The Jetsons, you know the future was supposed to have flying cars. A company in Japan, finally developed a tiny flying car, and took it for a test flight. SkyDrive’s single-seat electric vehicle, the SD-03, looks like a snowmobile, with 4 propellers attached. It took off vertically, and flew for 4 minutes.

Never underestimate, what you can learn from YouTube. Easton La Chappelle was interested in robotics, and prosthetics engineering. Online videos taught him about electronics, reading sensors, and software interfaces. He eventually started his own company, Unlimited Tomorrow, that makes affordable, 3D-printed, prosthetic arms and legs. He turned his passion, into a business.
