Bus stops in the Netherlands will soon double as bee stops. The rooftops of hundreds of bus shelters in Utrecht, are getting covered in plants! Sedum plants will feed bees, collect water, clean dust from the air, and help cool the city. Next, the city plans to install solar panels on the bus stops.

The Brownsville Collaborative Middle School, in New York, started a fun project this year. They built a hydroponic farm! Students planted seeds in trays fed by water, and grow vegetables and herbs for their cafeteria. They also sell fresh produce to people in the community. Maybe your school can also start a hydroponic farm!

When you drive by a field full of cows, do you moo at them? Today is Cow Appreciation Day. The main part of a cow’s 4-chambered stomach can hold 50 gallons of food. That’s about the same as a big bathtub! It’s also Sugar Cookie Day. Eat some milk and cookies, and thank a cow!

There’s a new rock star in Mackinac Island Michigan. The 51st Annual Stone Skipping Competition took place last week. First place went to Maxwell Steiner, who threw a stone that skipped over the water 20 times. Kurt Steiner, who holds the world record of 88 skips, also competed, but he’d lost his touch that day.

Some schools have Buddy Benches, where kids can sit if they want to make a new friend. Towns in England are trying the same thing! Police forces are installing Chat Benches, for people who’d like to have a conversation with someone. It will help when people feel isolated, or when their phone dies.

Researchers have created a way for people to communicate using only their minds. People wearing electroencephalography caps, could send information to each other in a brain-to-brain interface. They were able to play a game similar to Tetris together, signaling when to rotate blocks a computer screen by simply thinking it!

Officials in Katoomba Australia, placed spikes around the ledge of a shopping center, to keep birds from nesting there. A wild cockatoo apparently thinks that’s rude, so he’s removing them. The bird was filmed tearing out the sections of metal spikes and throwing them to the ground, allowing birds to build nests again!

A Missouri man complained to city officials for months, about a deep pothole in the road in his neighborhood. It continued to get no attention, until he threw a party. Frank Sereno gave the pothole a festive slice of cake for it’s 3-month anniversary, and posted photos to Facebook. Days later, it got fixed!
