When the 20 20 Olympics take place next summer in Tokyo Japan, they’ll need around 5000 medals to hand out to winners. The Tokyo 2020 Medal Project, was created to collect phones and electronics, to recycle into medals. They extracted 71 pounds of gold, 7,700 pounds of silver, and 4,580 pounds of bronze from 158,000,000 pounds of donated electronics. Wow!

It’s been the summer of a lifetime for University of California student Harrison Duran, and biology professor Michael Kjelland. They discovered a 65,000,000-year-old Triceratops skull in the Badlands of North Dakota! Duran has had a passion for dinosaurs since he was a baby, so finding Alice, the fossil’s nickname, was a dream come true!

The Globe of Death is dead. A circus stunt cage in which motorcycles ride in circles, fell off the back of a pick-up truck while it was being transported through New Jersey. No one was injured, but the accident did close the road for a while. The Globe of Death lost that round!

4 years ago, David Hole found a big rock while he was out prospecting for gold in Australia. The weight made him think there was a gold nugget inside, but he couldn’t get it open no matter how hard he tried. It turned out to be a 4.6 billion-year-old meteorite, much more rare than gold.

Keven Walgamott lost part of his left arm and hand in an accident years ago, but he recently tested out a new high-tech arm. The prototype has fingers that are controlled by his thoughts! The arm is named LUKE, after Star Wars’s Luke Skywalker, who lost his hand in a light saber battle!

Indonesian man Medi Bastoni, of East Java, wants to raise awareness of forest preservation. People will notice him, because he’s walking 500 miles to Jakarta, backwards! He hopes to meet with President Widodo, and ask for a symbolic seed to plant on Mount Wilis. The volcanic mountain’s trees are being regenerated, after deforestation and fires.
